History
Cooking in Central – “Official Festival for The City of Central”
Annual Fundraising Event

Cooking in Central, Inc. was established in 2006 by a group of citizens from the newly formed City of Central. Following the vast devastation of Hurricane Katrina, they wanted to do something to help their neighbors in South Louisiana. The resulting Cooking event raised enough funds to purchase three (3) school buses for the St. Bernard Parish School System..

Realizing the potential to raise monies to benefit various Educational, Charitable and Disaster Relief Causes, Cooking in Central, Inc. (a 501C (3), nonprofit corporation) was formed in 2007. The organization is run completely by Volunteers who donate unselfishly their time, resources and talents for the purpose of helping others.

The annual event consists of a competitive Cook-Off and Crawfish Boil. During its 15 years of existence Cooking in Central has raised over 3 million dollars. These campaigns have had a definite impact on the lives of thousands of deserving recipients.
